“Good afternoon, everyone. My name is Su Wan, from Nanjiang Medical University, China.”

“Today, I will present our findings on the genetic risk factors for drug-induced liver injury, based on a clinical and bioinformatic analysis of over two thousand patients.”

“In the subgroup of patients carrying a specific HLA genotype, we observed a significantly higher risk of drug-induced liver injury. The hazard ratio, after adjusting for all confounding factors, was 3.5.”

“We validated this finding in two independent datasets, and the results were consistent. Moreover, in the expanded validation cohort, the hazard ratio increased to 4.2.”

“Based on these findings, we propose that this specific HLA genotype may serve as a genetic biomarker for identifying high-risk individuals before drug administration. This could potentially guide personalized treatment strategies and improve drug safety.”

“Thank you.”

“Any questions for Ms. Su?”

“Yes, Dr. Johnson, please.”

Johnson

“Thank you for the excellent presentation, Ms. Su. I have two questions. First, regarding the sample size of your validation cohort. You mentioned it was expanded, but how many patients were actually included? And second, have you done any functional studies to explore the biological mechanism behind this association?”

“Thank you for your questions, Dr. Johnson. For the first question, the expanded validation cohort included an additional five hundred patients from three different medical centers. The total sample size for validation is now over seven hundred, and the association remains significant.”

她顿了顿,继续说:“For the second question, we are currently collaborating with a molecular biology lab to investigate the functional mechanism. Preliminary data suggest that this specific HLA genotype may affect antigen presentation, leading to an altered immune response. But this is still ongoing work, and we hope to have more concrete results in the near future.”

Johnson

Excellent work, Ms. Su. Thank you for sharing this important finding with us.”

“Su, your presentation was brilliant.” We're doing similar work on pharmacogenomics. I'd love to collaborate with you, if you're interested.”

Thank you, Dr. Sarah. I'm very interested. My email is on the abstract book. Please feel free to contact me.”

“Great.”Sarah笑了,“I'll email you next week. Keep up the good work.”
